Puerto Rico Kiteboarding Tour | When it comes to kite surfing you might want to check out a guy named Jeremie Tronet. The following video follows pro-kiteboarder Tronet as he was a participant of a Kite Cup which took place a few years ago in Puerto Rico. He met up with the local OceanRodeo team to shoot quite an entertaining clip – in parts also recorded on Palominito Island.
Tronet was initially invited to be a judge at the Puerto Rico kite surfing competition. After the event the OceanRodeo crew drove some of the riders around Puerto Rico island, making it an amazing trip between waves and flat water. The 16-minute-video features Jeremie Tronet, Linn Svendsen, Shannon Best, Kris Kinn, Melissa Gill, Jon Mc Cabe, Juan Carlos Morales and many reef girls :)
Puerto Rico Kiteboarding Tour – Weather and Locations
December to April is when Puerto Rico experiences larger waves. This is the best time for experienced kiteboarders to head for the island. If your kiteboarding skills aren’t quite to that level, come from July to September. It’s the “flat-water sailing season”. Waves will be smaller. Calmer waters are better suited to beginners.
There are three primary areas in Puerto Rico that are ideal for kitesurfing: (A) northwest coast – (B) south coast and (C) San Juan metro area, including Isla Verde, Caballos and Punta Las Marias. Isla Verde is near the international airport, a very popular kiteboarding spot. Caballos experiences larger waves.
